(Hawaiʻi) – Representative Jill Tokuda (HI-02) announced that her office is accepting submissions for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition and encourages participation from high school students across Hawaiʻi’s Second Congressional District to demonstrate their artistic talents.
“Throughout Hawaiʻi, we have young, talented, artistic students who are eager to share their perspectives on the world and what is happening around them,” stated Rep. Tokuda. “Contests like the Art Competition are the perfect opportunity to invest in our students’ passions and to give them a chance to showcase their abilities and points of view – not only to our community – but our nation.”
The winning artwork of our district’s competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol’s Cannon Tunnel, which Members of Congress use every day as well as thousands of visitors. The winning artwork will also be featured on House.gov’s Congressional Art Competition page and Congresswoman Tokuda’s website and social media pages.
In 2023, the winner of the Congressional Art Competition for Hawaiʻi’s Second Congressional District was Cailyn Omuro from Maui High School.
Students interested in participating in the Congressional Art Competition should visit Rep. Tokuda’s website: tokuda.house.gov/services/art-competition to learn more about the submission process. All completed submissions are due by 5:00 pm HST on Friday, April 19, 2024.
