Hawaiʻi – Representative Jill Tokuda (HI-02) announced that her office is accepting student submissions for the 2023 Congressional App Challenge launched by the U.S. House of Representatives.
“We need to encourage students to get excited about coding and app development, and thinking about a possible career in these fields,” stated Rep. Tokuda. “Competitions like the Congressional App Challenge stimulate creativity, innovation, and essential skillsets our young people will need for jobs of the future.”
The Congressional App Challenge encourages student participation in computer science, coding, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields and motivates our nation’s young talent to use their creativity to make an app for desktop/PC, web, tablet, mobile, raspberry Pi or other devices. The Congressional App Challenge is open to all middle school and high school students residing in or attending a school in Hawaiʻi’s Second Congressional District.
The winner(s) of Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District will be featured on the U.S. House of Representative’s Congressional App Challenge webpage, posted on Congresswoman Tokuda's website and social media pages, and will be eligible to be on display in the U.S. Capitol during #HouseOfCode—which will honor all winners from across the country.
Students should visit Tokuda’s website: https://bit.ly/tokudaappchallenge to learn more about the registration and submission process. Submissions are due by 6:00am HST on Wednesday November 1, 2023.
