(Washington, DC) – Today, Representative Jill Tokuda (HI-02) announced her appointment to serve on the House Armed Services Subcommittees on Readiness and Military Personnel.
The Readiness Subcommittee oversees military training, and logistics; maintenance issues and programs; military construction, installations and family housing issues; and the Base Realignment and Closure process. It also oversees civilian personnel, energy security, and environmental issues that affect the Department of Defense. The Subcommittee ensures that our troops are properly trained, that their equipment is properly maintained, and that they have the facilities and services they need and deserve when they return home.
The Military Personnel Subcommittee is responsible for military personnel and their families; employment issues and reserve component integration; military education; military health care; POW/MIA issues; morale, welfare, and recreation; and cemeteries. The subcommittee ensures that our troops and their loved ones are receiving the quality benefits that they earned and deserve.
“I am honored and pleased to be appointed to the House Armed Services Subcommittees on Readiness and Military Personnel,” said Rep. Jill Tokuda. “These two subcommittees have jurisdiction over issues critical to Hawai‘i, including oversight of Red Hill, renegotiation of land leases, defense workforce development, and quality of life issues for our servicemembers and their families. I look forward to being a strong voice for our nation’s military personnel and their families and advocating for a stronger defense posture in the Indo-Pacific.”
